Tense

Tense is a grammatical term that refers to the time of an action or event. It helps us understand when something happened or will happen.

In English, there are three main tenses: Past, Present, and Future.

Past tense: This is used to talk about actions or events that have already happened.

For example, “I went to the store yesterday.”

Present tense: This is used to talk about actions or events that are happening now or are generally true.

For example, “I am reading a book” or “The sun rises in the east.”

Future tense: This is used to talk about actions or events that will happen in the future.

For example, “I will go to the party tomorrow.”

Each tense can also have different forms, such as Simple, Continuous, Perfect, or Perfect Continuous, which provide additional information about the action or event.
